Peter Guenther, owner of Guenther Homes, Inc., has a passion for quality. For thirty-two years, he and his dedicated team have been building the kind of houses that make owners proud.

Born in Leamington, Ontario, Peter began what would become a career in homebuilding at age sixteen. He worked on residential construction job sites, cleaning up garbage, screwing down subfloors, and other such tasks. He was captivated by the wood-frame construction: “ I’d see just a pile of lumber and from that, I’d see a house being built.”  Not surprisingly, he was soon a member of the framing crew.

After a year of framing, Peter decided to launch out on his own. Here was a hands on opportunity to learn the mechanics of residential construction and running a small business.

In 1990, having honed his skills at wood frame construction, Peter and his company had the opportunity to build their first complete home. This was another important step forward in expanding his own skills and the scope of his company’s services.

Setting concrete foundations, installing electrical and mechanical services, applying drywall on wood framing: every aspect of the house construction process presented an opportunity for learning and improving. From the very beginning, Peter was motivated by the desire to build homes using processes of the highest possible standards.

Today, although he presides over a company that has built hundreds of high-quality custom homes from London/St. Thomas to Branford, Kitchener, and Cambridge, Peter remains very hands on in his approach. Even though Guenther Homes is engaged in multiple projects at any given  moment, he is not averse to strapping on a tool belt and climbing atop a roof when situations calls for it. “The hands-on approach is still the best for really understanding how things come together and how will materials perform,” Says Peter. “ I’m on-site ensuring we do it right and figuring out ways to do thing even better.”
